As you may or may not know Nottingham has a wealth of creative talent and the Dezigne Shop in Goosegate, Hockley has always been dedicated to showcasing and promoting both new and established makers and designers. We stock jewellery, clothing, bags, glassware, food items, speciality teas, art and greetings cards. 
Just before Christmas 2015 we collaborated with the guys from Prisma Clothing to create Store 51 in the Lace Market area of Nottingham and one of the new businesses we featured was Studio Chocolate. They are based in Nottingham City Centre and the chocolates are the creation of it's young chocolatier Ellie who has studied pattisserie at Le Cordon Bleu in London. The sales of The Artist Collection of chocolates was amazing ! The chocolates are inspired by some of the World's well known artists such as Picasso, Dali and Monet - the flavours are original as well as the colours used - for example the Van Gogh is a bright yellow white chocolate with a swirl of dark chocolate on top, covering a tangy passion fruit ganache.

The Dali is delicate coffee ganache coated in cardomom flavoured dark chocolate -amazing!!

The Artist Collection is available in boxes of 12 or 24 in the Dezigne shop or on line.

And now with Valentine's Day only a couple of weeks away Studio Chocolate have launched their Romance Collection -this time inspired by famous writers. Heart shaped chocolates in six luscious flavours that indulge the senses such as 

Shakespeare - smooth salted caramel encased in a milk chocolate shell and JK Rowling - champagne and milk chocolate ganache with popping candy !

The Romance Collection comes in boxes of 6, 12 or 24 and are available in the Dezigne shop or on line.

Since opening the Dezigne shop in November 2013 -  a new creative venture on the High Street in Hockley, Nottingham, there have certainly been many challenges and there is a lot of hard work ahead but we are kept in a positive frame of mind from the fantastic comments from customers and from the wonderful handmade items from mainly local designers and makers that we have in the shop.

A recent update by Mary Portas on the progress of the 'High Street' is also encouraging and makes us feel that we are not alone with what is going to be a difficult task.
I especially like this comment:

'But what the research today is telling me is that the High Street is also organically healing itself through the simple power of plucky entrepreneurs who, despite all the bleak warnings from so many commentators, give it a go.'

'We must must must come up with a new way of managing and promoting the hopes and aspirations of all these people who are so keen to have a go. It’s tough for them, really tough, especially in the first 12 months and they deserve help.'


We have loads of ideas for the coming year and there is much to do but with the help and support of our customers and suppliers we can make it!

Nottingham Light Night

Each year shops and attractions all over Nottingham Light up with work from various artists and designers and create a tour through the city's streets.

This year we are taking part on February 28th by filling our windows with some lovely light creations to invite you into our shop for a browse and to enjoy a nice cup of something hot.

We also have available a 2.5*2.5 metre gazebo available for FREE. We can provide you with electricity, fairy lights, and a space if you provide us with a creation. Whether that be a performance, a sculpture or simply a stall. If you are interested please get in touch.

New premises

It's been a while since our last post, so let's start where we left off!

After a huge success with the pop-up shop we now have a more permanent spot in Nottingham's creative heart - Hockley.

The transformation began in November and as well as having all of the beautiful, unique and handmade items, upstairs is home to a coffee shop with the perfect view to watch the world go by!

Home to all of the gorgeous items you have come to expect from Dezigne, we have a silky smooth blend of freshly brewed coffee waiting for you and a selection of teas to enjoy with a slice of cake, and the opportunity to purchase some beautiful food items for your cupboards such as rosebuds to brew your very own rose tea, lovely honeys, herbs and condiments all direct from Greece.
