Here Dezigne we are loving jewellery with tassels - perfect for a bohemian Summer !We have necklaces and earrings in a variety of designs and colours from pretty pinks, mint and lavender to dark purple and dramatic black.
First, there were statement necklaces and now there are statement earrings - big, bold and colourful.
Khloe Kardashian was seen recently wearing a pair of beautiful silky turquoise blue tassel earrings.Tassel earrings have been around for a few years, but they are EVERYWHERE on the catwalk... and they've morphed into new designs- with rhinestones and crystals giving them that little bit of glamour. they look boho-ish during the day. Then, they turn slinky and elegant when the sun goes down.
Wow, so much has happened since our last post. We have been busy setting up and opening our new store and coffee bar Dezigne in the Creative Quarter of Nottingham.
The shop is based on the success of the Pop Up shop that we set up in 2012 - also in the Hockley area of Nottingham. We specialise in handmade and one-off designer items including furniture, lighting, soft furnishings, bags, jewellery, accessories etc. as well as handmade chocolates, preserves, honey and herbs.
We mainly stock items from local makers and designers but are constantly on the lookout for new makers from around the UK.
We are inspired by Liberty of London and the many quirky coffee shops in London.
We love Liberty's retail philosophy - ie. being unique, different, independent.
New in the Dezigne shop this week we have some gorgeous vintage and steampunk inspired jewellery by a designer from Stamford in Lincolnshire.
Here are just a few images:
One jewellery designer whose necklaces I have been greatly admiring recently is Barbara Acton-Bond.
She uses semi-precious stones, gemstones and other unique beads and pendants to create beautiful balanced and harmonious pieces. Her colour and texture combinations are are amazing.
Some great new summer jewellery by Driftwood Beach is now available from Dezigne - perfect additions to your summer wardrobe !
Fabulous Wood, Jasper and Leather Necklace £23.50
Stunning Wood, Ceramic, Stone and Leather Necklace £35.00
Most of my jewellery is inspired by the ocean, the beach and the coastline so I love to use pebble shaped beads in natural materials such as wood and semi-precious stone. The wood twist beads I have used in the necklace above reminds me of driftwood -smooth to the touch and ever so slightly faded. The bright aqua ceramic ovals and dyed turquoise chips really contrast well with the wood.
I think the wood and jasper necklace has quite a designer look-I must admit I find it difficult to do asymetrical jewellery - it's far more difficult than it looks!
One of my favourite Etsy makers Lorelei Eurto gets it right every time!
I have recently been asked to make some bridal jewellery for a lady who is getting married in St Ives in Cornwall later this year -which is wonderful as St Ives is one of my favourite places and I am so pleased to have been asked to make this jewellery which will feature some gorgeous freshwater pearls.
